6/21/2023 0 Comments Penguin book of the norse mythsEspecially when it comes to Comparative Mythology, which might be helpful, because if you look at history, you'll find many instances of Deities either merging. The history of our blood is in our language. It's like watching gene expression turn on and off. Every time an accent is moved or a character's name changes. Every time a vowel flips or a prefix is dropped. Learning and observing how stories evolve as they spread is like watching humanity evolve. That helps you track the evolution of the mythology by tracing the people it began with. Then when you get to the Norse and Celtic you got some Latin and Greek influence mixing with the indigenous European pagan religions.Īnd remember which order they came in. They existed along side Greek and Roman and the latter lasted a little longer. Egyptian/Sumerian/Mesopotamian are the origins of the biblical narratives. Roman and Greek are closely related so if you can understand Greek, you got a good lead on Roman too. 2- great subject matter and I wish you tons of luck. First off, Sorry if this gets wordy, I'm a little high and I love this subject.
